Not an official service

Tax Refund Calculator is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to HMRC or any UK government department. Any actual tax refund is claimed directly with HMRC, free of charge, using the links on the homepage under "How to actually claim".

Estimates only

The figures this site produces are estimates based on the published income tax rates and bands for the tax year and country you select, applied to the numbers you enter. They are not a formal calculation, not tax advice, and not a guarantee of any refund amount. HMRC's own figure, based on your full tax record, is the one that counts. Rates are checked periodically; the date they were last verified is shown in the footer of every page.

What the calculator does not account for

The calculator assumes a single PAYE employment, whole tax-year figures, and no untaxed income. It does not cover National Insurance, student loan repayments, self-employment, rental income, dividends, or savings income. See the what this doesn't include section on the homepage for the full list. If your situation includes any of these, treat the result as a rough indication rather than a precise figure.

No liability

This site is provided free of charge, "as is", with no warranty of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. Use of the calculator, or any decision made based on its output, is at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Vasia Media accepts no liability for any loss arising from reliance on this site.

No paid claims service

This site does not process tax refund claims and does not charge a fee or take a percentage of anything you're owed. Claiming through HMRC directly is free — see the about page for why this tool exists.
