About Tax Refund Calculator
Tax Refund Calculator is a free, independent tool that estimates how much income tax you may have overpaid through PAYE, for the last four claimable tax years. It's built and run by Vasia Media, a small UK operator of single-purpose web tools.
Why this exists
Most people who are owed a tax refund never claim it, either because they don't know they're owed one or because working out the figure looks more complicated than it is. This tool exists to give a fast, private estimate so you know whether it's worth pursuing with HMRC directly, before paying anyone a percentage to do it for you.
How the estimate works
The calculator applies the published income tax rates and bands for the exact tax year and country you select — England, Northern Ireland, Scotland or Wales — to the gross income and tax paid you enter, alongside any reliefs you claim, then compares that to what you actually paid. Every step of the calculation is shown, not just the final number. See how it works for the full breakdown, or the FAQ for common questions.
What it isn't
This is an independent estimate, not an official HMRC service, financial advice, or a substitute for checking your own record with HMRC directly. See the terms page for the full disclaimer.
